This is the Special Gift Edition, translated from French by Stuart Olyott. It was Calvin’s worthy attempt to explain biblical truths in a concise form for ordinary people to read – hence the original title ‘A Brief Outline of the Christian Faith’. It is in fact a resume of the first edition of his ‘Institutes of the Christian Religion’.
