Dr Kennedy was the pastor of Dingwall Free Church congregation from 1844 until his death in 1884 at the age of 65. He was a renowned and powerful preacher whose services were in much demand by congregations throughout the Highlands and in other parts of Scotland. He was also a staunch defender of the Reformed Faith who was, as his friend C H Spurgeon described him, ‘true as steel and firm as a rock’.
