William Greenhill (1598-1671) was one of those Puritans ejected from his Church after the Restoration of the Monarchy in 1660. He had been an important figure under Oliver Cromwell and previously involved in both the Westminster Assembly and the Savoy Conference. However he was still able to preach to up to 500 people in an Independent capacity at Stepney, London until his death. This book developed from sermons preached in his latter days from Psalm 119:18, ‘Let my heart be sound in thy statutes.’ He insists upon the need for a personal heart-felt appropriation of the truth. He said ‘the times we live in are discovering times, and the unsoundness of many is laid open before the sun.’ We live also in such times. This book is beautifully produced, with dustjacket.
