This is an exposition by Martin Luther of David’s dying words in 2 Samuel 23:1-7. Luther shows David’s faith in his covenant God, and how God is revealed as a Trinity of Persons, even in the Old Testament. He expatiates on the doctrine of the Trinity and the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ, “made of the seed of David according to the flesh, and declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead (Romans 1:3-4).
